Pam and Her Whānau: A Story of Strength and Aroha

For the past year, Pam and her whānau have been part of our Feed My Lambs and Te Hiku community.
Every week, four generations arrive together. Pam, her daughter, her three mokopuna and her three great-mokopuna. Their presence is a reminder of what strong whakapapa and consistent support can achieve.
Pam first came to us looking for a safe space where her whānau could grow and stay connected. She shared with us one of the hardest chapters in her family’s journey. When her son faced the challenges of meth addiction, Pam stepped in to care for his baby. She wanted to make sure her mokopuna stayed surrounded by love and out of the system and saw Feed My Lambs as a great place to start. It was a decision rooted in aroha, responsibility and deep commitment to her whānau.
Today, Pam continues to raise and care for her wider whānau while also giving back to the community through her volunteer work at a local second-hand shop. Her story highlights what can happen when whānau are supported holistically and welcomed without judgement. It shows the strength that exists within our communities, particularly Kaitaia, and the power of coming together.
Pam’s journey reminds us that when whānau are met with compassion and consistency, enduring strength and hope can flourish for generations.
