Whānau success story – Meet Hine

When Hine faced the temporary removal of her child by Oranga Tamariki due to concerns of abuse, she came to Feed My Lambs feeling overwhelmed and deeply distressed. She has a history of PTSD and struggles with addiction, while also managing financial hardship and uncertainty about her parenting abilities.

Rongopai House provided advocacy through letters and referrals to psychological services and Oranga Tamariki. Practical help with food, petrol, and enrolling her child into kindergarten made a real difference. Through one-on-one coaching and reconnecting with the community, Hine gradually rebuilt her confidence and sense of hope.

Hine

Thanks to her openness to support and the consistent care from our team, Hine’s child is now safely back home. She continues to engage in therapy and is developing new parenting skills, embracing a stronger, brighter future for her whānau.
